Mentorship

Last year Carl Orff Canada introduced a new Mentorship opportunity for our membership. The program offers additional support to educators who have engaged in Orff training, and assists them in linking the pedagogy of the Orff process with the realities of individual teaching situations. Educators experienced in the Orff process are partnered with those in earlier stages of their training; they co-create an individualized mentorship program, meeting the needs of each mentee in developing their own practice, deepening their understanding of Orff pedagogy, refining their artistic intentions and developing their teaching style and profile.

With the onset of the Covid crisis we recognize that the opportunities for Orff training have been greatly reduced. As well, individual teaching situations are far from normal and require tremendous effort on your part. Recognizing that this may not be the most obvious time for a mentor/mentee relationship the Mentorship Committee has decided to suspend, for this year, the usual intake deadlines for applications and instead offer an open application period throughout the year. We will do our best to find mentors to assist you.

Applications and information can be found in the Policy and Procedure document, Section R - Mentorship Program or by contacting James Jackson, Mentorship Committee, Chair.
